The Design Brief: Painting a Picture

There is nothing more exciting than speaking with a client about a new invention, or change to an existing product. We enjoy hearing them provide a detailed account, like painting a picture or telling a story. This allows us to get on with their story, drafting it chapter by chapter.

We relish the opportunity to dive into a design brief when we do receive one, but in reality this is not always the case. This is because more often than not, we pick up work half way through a project. Often to sort out a challenging issue or two, or provide an answer to an unforeseen problem. We have a reputation with many of our clients of ‘doing things properly’ and not being afraid to drill down into the detail.

The Product Requirement Specification (PRS) defines the overall product being developed, including its technical and functional requirements. In short, what we consider to be the golden standard design brief. In design and development we usually only know part of a picture or half of a story, so this document equips us with important detailed information and therefore helps us to understand what is required. In turn this aids us to deliver on our brief and prepare suitable CAD drawings and data so that our client may move forward into production.

So whether you need help with finishing a picture or writing the end of a story. We’re good at what we do and can help you achieve the finished product.
