Shades of Grey

Is it me, or has anyone else noticed that everything now seems to be a shade of grey? Cars, front doors, fitted kitchens, lounge soft furnishings, window frames, luxurious padded headboards, whatever the item, it appears that grey is the colour to be sought and purchased from our High Street or online retailers alike.

In the world of mechanical design engineering, however, life couldn’t be more different. If engineers like me are doing our jobs well, then we simply cannot settle for a ‘shade of grey’. Whatever the project we are working on, whether it be an amendment or revision of a CAD design or development of a new product, etc., we have to deliver on the brief to the very best of our ability. So this means producing a product or component that is not only functional but can safely be operated or utilised by the end user.

We have worked with a lot of clients on the development of medical devices with injection moulded parts and components over the 20 plus years Sanstec Design has been operating, and therefore everything we are involved with must be completed to the highest possible standard we can achieve. In these instances, a shade of grey is deemed simply unacceptable.
