Title: Project Manager (Software)
Employment type: The engagement period will be on a fixed term employment basis of 6 months which is very likely to be extended to 12 months.
Working hours: Normally working a 40 hour ‘flexible’ week, managing the hours to match the work load as required.
Salary: Negotiable (DOE).

 

The Job Role: To provide effectively and efficiently project management capabilities and work with senior software engineers and product owners to develop the project plan and facilitate effective objective scheduling. Working and integrating effectively with client teams on and off site by employing flexible and focused working methods.

 

Reporting to: the ‘Managing Director' & client 'Technical Lead'.

Our services include, implementing and applying the technical capability and resources, to provide and assist these companies and clients to achieve their technical and commercial objectives by providing solutions for all aspects of product design, product development and engineering.

 

Role Overview: We’re working with our client who is starting up a new external robotic device project which by the nature of it contains a very large software element fundamentally for the sophisticated control systems that it contains. As our current resources are fully engaged in various projects, we need an additional person to work with us focusing on our client's project who can effectively 'jump start' the software planning so that other key team members can concentrate on the technical requirements rather than planning. The planning will involve essentially managing the engagement of a team of >20 engineers across 4 sites. and also working with external companies to manage deliveries of software components. The role will mostly be remote working, but visits to the project base site in mid Suffolk will be required to synchronise with key team members (estimated to be two or three times a month). Responsibilities will include managing the development plan for both the embedded software and the cloud/app offering.

Possible/Potential European travel may also be required. The engagement period will be on a fixed term employment basis of 6 months which is very likely to be extended to 12 months.

 

Job Role / Skill Set

  • Client product / process knowledge is not required.
  • You will be highly experienced in planning software projects.
  • It's preferable that your experience relates to the project management of software specifically in 'Products'.
  • You will be able to understand plans from various software teams and therefore the related dependencies and 'interactions' between them.
  • You will be able to work with and integrate quickly and effectively with existing project managers in the team to co-ordinate tasks and timelines.
  • An experienced user of MS Project to utilise and co-ordinate task tracking and planning.
  • Effectively work with senior software engineers and product owners to develop the project plan and facilitate effective objective scheduling.
  • Pro-Active in instigating and running regular status calls to update the plan and monitor progress.

 

Location

Fundamentally based remotely, this role will require an estimated 2/3 visits every month to the clients mid Suffolk based site.
